It’s time for your private Namibian luxury fly-in safari to take- off! The wildlife and landscapes that lie just over the horizon mean you have so much to look forward to and it all starts here.
We think you’re going to love the landscapes of Skeleton Coast National Park. It runs along a wildly beautiful coastline that covers much of Namibia’s northwest, with sand dunes and forlorn shipwrecks a real highlight of visiting. There’s even wildlife here, from gemsbok and the seal colonies at Cape Cross to elusive populations of desert lions and elephants in some areas.
Nature drive, Hoanib Skeleton Coast
Hoanib Skeleton Coast is a really special place, a gloriously remote tented camp in northwestern Namibia. There are neither towns nor other lodges or camps for miles in any direction, and the silence and stars are incredible as you lie in your safari tent at night. Top service, excellent food, a swimming pool and fun excursions all await you.
You’re in one of Namibia’s most beautiful corners as you explore the northern region of Damaraland. Apart from the beautiful and rugged landscape, where brown mountains shelter numerous prehistoric rock art sites, you might see desert-adapted elephants, giraffes, rhinos, or even lions, especially in the river valleys.
This morning on the Skeleton Coast before your departure to Mowani, if weather permits, you will go on a nature walk with one of the Hoanib wilderness guides.
Afterward you will be transferred to the Hoanib airstrip for your departure on your 45 minute flight to Twyfelfontein airstrip. Upon landing you will be met by a Mowani guide that will transfer you to the Mowani Mountain Camp, which is about a 20 minute drive.
This afternoon upon your arrival at Mowani Mountain Camp, you will enjoy lunch and have the option to spend a leisurely afternoon at the camp or visit the UNESCO World Heritage site at Twyfelfontein to travel back to the Stone Age, a time when elephants, rhinos and giraffes inhabited the area. They’re all represented in the rock engravings of Twyfelfontein. Remarkably, so are sea lions.
A fantastic base for exploring the world-famous rock engravings of Twyfelfontein, at Mowani Mountain Camp you will stay in their mountain suite that blends in beautifully with the rocky hills of Damaraland. The suite has its own private splash pool and the camp has another swimming pool, a restaurant and a bar, all of which take advantage of the camp’s terrific location.
Just like Etosha National Park but in miniature, exclusive Ongava Game Reserve is just outside the southwestern corner of the park. It has the same landscapes, many of the same animals, including lions and rhinos, and none of the crowds.
Early this morning at Mowani Mountain Camp you will have the option to do a desert elephant drive with a Mowani wilderness guide. On this drive you will explore the Huab River beds in a 4×4 open- sided game viewing vehicle in search of desert-adapted elephants. This is the only place on the African continent you will have the opportunity to photograph them in their natural habitat. Be on the lookout for giraffe, oryx, springbok, and ostrich. If you wish, you may request your own private vehicle with a guide for an extra cost of N$ 6,840. This can only be booked at the lodge upon arrival and is for your own account.
After your Huab River bed excursion, you will go back to Mowani Mountain Camp and be transferred to the Twyfelfontein airstrip for your 50-minute flight to Ongava Private Game Reserve on the border of Etosha National Park.
Upon your arrival this afternoon at Ongava Game Reserve’s private airstrip, you will be met by an Ongava guide, who will transfer you to Little Ongava, where you will spend the next two nights. After you get settled into your luxury suite, you will enjoy lunch and have the option to go on a late afternoon guided game drive to look for wildlife and learning all about them from your professional guide.
NOTE: All game drives at Little Ongava are shared with other Little Ongava guests; however, if you prefer a private vehicle and guide for a more exclusive adventure that can be arranged at the lodge for your own account.
The guided game drive is the best thing about going on safari and that’s what you’ll have the option to do this morning on Ongava’s Private Game Reserve or in Etosha National Park. From the comfort of your vehicle, there’s always a chance that you might see some of the animals that you came so far to see.
This afternoon you will have the option to do another game drive on Ongava’s Private Game Reserve or in Etosha National Park or have leisure time to relax and enjoy the lodge and its surroundings. If you choose you could also opt to go on a guided nature walk with your professional guide
Designed for privacy, luxury and an intimacy with the land, Little Ongava is arguably Namibia’s most luxurious accommodation with pristine views across the Ongava plains.
Just outside Etosha National Park’s eastern border lies Onguma Private Game Reserve that spans over 34,000 hectares. Visiting the reserve is a more exclusive way for you to enjoy many of the same animals that Etosha has to offer, but without the crowds.
Staying at Onguma, you are well positioned to visit Etosha National Park, which is one of the best places to see wildlife in all of southern Africa. Watch for lions hunting by the waterholes, and you can’t miss the elephants cloaked in white Etosha dust. Rhinos draw near to the waterholes and leopards are also possible here, and don’t forget the scenery: the vast and mesmerizing salt pans that are such a feature of the park are simply stunning.
This morning after breakfast you will be transferred to the Ongava airstrip for your 30-minute flight to Onguma’s Private airstrip, where you will be met by your Onguma guide and transferred to Camp Kala.
After check-in and lunch, you will have the opportunity for another game drive on Onguma’s Private Game Reserve.
Activities at Onguma are all exclusively custom tailored and based on the greater Onguma Reserve, allowing the opportunity to get off your vehicle and explore nature with your guide. Traditional trips into Etosha are also available. Other activities to choose from are Onguma sunset drives, interpretive bush walks, Onkolo hides and massage therapy. Included in your stay at Camp Kala are two 60-minute massages for you and your wife.
Today you can head down more safari trails in search of animals on Onguma Game Reserve, take advantage of leisure time or choose to enjoy one of the many other offerings of the camp (see Activity Day 5 above).
This evening you and your wife will be treated to a romantic bush dinner for a magical end to your safari experience.
Camp Kala is a new ultra-exclusive lodge elevated on wooden decks with panoramic views over Onguma’s most beautiful and prolific waterholes in the Onguma Nature Reserve.
With its conical, mud plastered central tower resembling a termite mound and the whole camp elevated on wooden stilts, it blends in with its surroundings and immediately calms the soul. The impeccable and discreet butler service is designed to pamper guests and make you feel welcome, appreciated and at home.
Your Namibian safari ends here, and if you’re anything like us, you’ll be very sad that it’s over. We look forward to helping you plan your next adventure.
You will enjoy breakfast, lunch and a late checkout from Onguma today before you will be transferred to the Onguma airstrip for your departure flight to Hosea Kutako International Airport in Windhoek. This flight is an hour and 40 minutes, so we will aim for a departure around 2 pm, weather permitting, to ensure timely arrival at the international airport.
We are excited to help you personalize your next safari holiday and turn your dreams into memories.
